SIWIBA Catering Training

SIWIBA successfully completed a four day catering training from 24-27th September 2018 at the YWCA Conference room. The training was conducted by Kolei Catering Services and a total of 30 members attended.

The owner of Kolei Catering Services is a long time member of SIWIBA, endorsed and recommended by SIWIBA to attend a 6 months Cooking Course with APTC in Vanuatu and has now become SIWIBA’s resource person.

The training covered various topics. Topics covered as follow, members learnt various ways of making roti, pizza, omelets, garlic bread, salads, meat balls, fruit salads and meat pies. During the first 3 days participants did theory throughout and on the 4th and last day, women had the opportunity to put into practice what they learnt.

All participants put into practice what they learnt and at the end of the 4 day training what participants made as practical turned into a feast during closing.

Both the President and CEO of SIWIBA attended the closing and one of the participant thanked the trainer and all participants for the wonderful 4 days together. The member Loretta Baekalia is a new member and she acknowledged what the Trainer and SIWIBA is doing for its members.

The Trainer acknowledged participants for a job well done, although the cooking space in the kitchen was not big enough for the 30 of them they managed to complete the training particularly the practical side. She encourages every member who join the training to apply for APTC and do further studies in terms of skills trainings.

SIWIBA CEO Ms. Jennifer Pascal when speaking on behalf of the secretariat acknowledges the President, Secretariat, Trainer and her son for making the catering training possible. She encourages the members to put into practice what they have learnt by making and show casing end products of what they learnt in the next upcoming SIWIBA Market.

SIWIBA President, Mrs. Pamela Zoleveke speaking on behalf of the board also acknowledges everyone, the secretariat particularly the Training Officer for ensuring the catering training successfully done and also acknowledged the Trainer and her very hard working son for a job well done.

The President, acknowledged Nerolyn Silas for attending APTC and for successfully completing the course and in return share her skills with SIWIBA members. SIWIBA members, are being encouraged to make use of the opportunities and put to good use what they have learnt from the training.
